During the discussion on the Finance Bill, the Union Minister said that I announce the formation of a committee on the issue of pension under the chairmanship of the Finance Secretary. It will be developed with a view to meet the needs of the personnel while protecting the common citizens. Whatever the recommendations of the committee, it will be prepared for adoption by the Central and State Governments. Let us tell you that there is a fierce battle between the Center and the opposition parties regarding the National Pension Scheme. Central government and state government employees are demanding old pension scheme.

The issue of pension of employees became a political issue

The dispute between the employees is also deepening regarding NPS. That is because the old pension scheme has been reinstated in the Congress ruled states. Since then, the pressure on the government to review the NPS was increasing. There is also a political aspect of the BJP government forming a committee on NPS. Even in the BJP ruled states, the demand for restoration of the old pension scheme by the government employees is continuously rising. The Lok Sabha elections are going to be held after a year in the year 2024. In such a situation, the issue of pension of government employees is becoming a political issue.
