What will be the effect of Congress victory in Karnataka in Loksabha election 2023.

News2News.in Explainer: The Congress has returned to power with a thumping majority in the Karnataka assembly elections. For the BJP, this electoral defeat has raised concerns for the future. Out of the total 224 seats in Karnataka, the Congress has won 136 seats, while the ruling BJP has been reduced to just 65 seats. The political importance of this election is not only limited to Karnataka but it is also important for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. In such a situation, the defeat of Karnataka has increased the tension for BJP’s mission-2024.

Let us tell you that the BJP has set a target of winning 400 seats for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. From this point of view also, the election of Karnataka was considered even more important for the BJP. After being voted out of power in Karnataka, it seems difficult for the BJP to achieve its target. The Karnataka election was being considered as the semi-final of 2024. In such a situation, the victory and defeat of any party becomes very important for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

BJP’s Mission South Failed

The BJP is yet to establish itself in southern Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu and Telangana. There are 130 Lok Sabha seats in six 4 states of the South, which is about 25 percent of the total Lok Sabha seats. In such a situation, South India is also very important politically. In 2019, BJP got seats in Karnataka and Telangana, but it did not win Lok Sabha seats in the rest of the southern states. Through Karnataka BJP wanted to spread its foot in South but it got a setback in Karnataka itself. This can prove to be a big political loss for the BJP.

172 seats for BJP from five states in 2019

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, BJP won 18 out of 42 seats in Bengal, 23 out of 48 in Maharashtra, 25 out of 28 in Karnataka, 17 out of 40 in Bihar, 12 out of 14 in Jharkhand. Out of a total of 172 seats in the five states, BJP won 98 seats while its allies won 42 seats. In this way, the BJP alliance won 140 out of 172 seats. Due to the defeat in Karnataka, this time the Lok Sabha battle will not be so easy.

Where Karnataka in 2024 Lok Sabha

After this defeat, BJP’s seats in Karnataka may decrease in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP had won 25 and BJP-backed independent candidates had won one seat by performing strongly on 28 seats in the state. Whereas Congress-JDS got only one seat each. In such a situation, after the defeat in Karnataka, it may be difficult for the BJP to repeat the results of 2019 in the state.

What Karnataka elections mean for opposition unity

It is believed that the campaign to unite the opposition parties at the national level against the BJP will be further strengthened by this victory. The election took place at a time when the exercise of uniting all the opposition parties is going on ahead of the general elections. If the Congress were to lose this election, it would be a blow to the opposition unity. After this result, the campaign to bring all the opposition parties on one platform will gain momentum. The Congress may also present the swearing-in ceremony in Karnataka as a show of strength.

Effect of Bharat Jodo Yatra

A few months before the Karnataka elections, Rahul Gandhi did a padyatra from Kanyakumari to Kashmir. This march was named Bharat Jodo Yatra. During this visit, Rahul Gandhi passed through many seats of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly. Due to which the results have come in favor of Congress. During the Bharat Jodo Yatra, Rahul Gandhi focused on places that were not Congress strongholds. Instead of Congress bastions, Rahul traveled through areas where the BJP had won in 2018. Due to this, the Congress got strengthened at the grassroots level, its workers became active. Rahul Gandhi interacted directly with the people. The effect of which was visible and the Congress was successful in making gains in these areas.

Congress dominance again in opposition parties

Nothing can be said when the game will turn in elections and cricket. Even though there is only one year left for the Lok Sabha elections, but looking at it from another point of view, this time is also not less. In Karnataka, by fighting elections on the ground and on local issues, the Congress has shown that it is not impossible to defeat the BJP if the issues are raised correctly and a better strategy is made against it.

After this victory, there is also a possibility of increasing the dominance of Congress among the opposition parties. After coming to the opposition, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar is working to bring all the parties together. He has held important meetings to bring together all the opposition parties including Akhilesh Yadav, Uddhav Thackeray, Mamta Banerjee. Leaders like Akhilesh, Mamata KCR are believed to be not comfortable fighting the next Lok Sabha election under the leadership of Congress and especially Rahul Gandhi. This was also the reason why the responsibility of bringing all the opposition parties together was entrusted to Nitish Kumar instead of Sonia Gandhi or Rahul Gandhi. Now after Himachal, Congress has got victory in Karnataka also, which will definitely increase the dominance of Congress in opposition parties and it will be in a better bargaining position to contest more seats in the Lok Sabha elections.

Congress mission 2024

After the results of the Karnataka Assembly elections, the Congress is now gearing up for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Many veteran Congress leaders have started feeling that in 2024 Modi’s fort will shake. Congress leaders are beginning to feel that after the Vidhansabha, they will be able to win the Lok Sabha as well. Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh has made it clear by giving a statement that the Congress is now preparing a more robust strategy for 2024. They say that Congress has won and PM Narendra Modi has lost. Because only one person was campaigning on behalf of BJP and only he is the face of BJP.
