Monsoon Weather Update Today: Monsoon has become active in 80 percent parts of the country. Southwest Monsoon has advanced into rest of the country. Monsoon is progressing rapidly in states like Gujarat and Punjab. According to the latest update, there is a forecast of light to heavy rain in 24 states of the country in the next 24 hours.

Monsoon will reach the whole country in the next two days

The National Meteorological Office said that the southwest monsoon has now covered most parts of the country. Only northern parts of Rajasthan, small parts of Haryana and Punjab are beyond the ambit of the rainy season. Soon there may be monsoon rains here too. According to IMD, the monsoon will reach the entire country in the next two days. Southwest Monsoon has further advanced into remaining parts of North Arabian Sea, remaining parts of Gujarat and some more areas of Rajasthan. Conditions are favorable for further advance of Southwest Monsoon into remaining parts of Rajasthan, Haryana and Punjab during next two days, IMD said. Meanwhile, the weather office issued an orange alert for parts of Uttarakhand as well as Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Maharashtra.

Monsoon havoc in Himachal

According to the weather office data, heavy rains occurred in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, West Bengal and Jharkhand on Tuesday. The minimum temperature in Delhi soared to 24.5 degrees Celsius (four below normal) and maximum 34.8 degrees Celsius (two below normal) due to early-morning rains on Tuesday. At the same time, at least six people died in Himachal Pradesh between Monday and Tuesday. State officials said, the state has faced the brunt of the monsoon, which has hit the country with renewed vigor in the last few days after Cyclone Biperjoy. The IMD warned that more rain is likely in the state for the rest of the week. There is a possibility of heavy rain in some parts. There is a possibility of rain for the next five days. Warning of heavy rain continues at some places in the state. Himachal Pradesh received only 6 mm of rain on Tuesday, which is a little more than the average of 4.5 mm.
