Manipur Violence: The Central and Manipur state governments on Tuesday announced compensation for those killed in caste clashes in the state. Officials said on Tuesday that a compensation of Rs 10 lakh has been announced. Also, one member of the family of the person who lost his life will also be given a job. Officials said the cost of the compensation amount would be shared equally by the Center and the Manipur government. Not only this, today the Union Home Minister Amit Shah has also met a delegation of women in Imphal, the capital of Manipur.

Decision taken in meeting with Shah

This important decision for those killed during the caste conflict was taken in a late night meeting between Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh. Along with this, a decision has also been taken in the meeting to reduce the prices of essential goods. This includes petrol, LPG gas, rice and other food products. Amit Shah has arrived on a four-day tour of Manipur on the night of May 29, i.e. Monday. Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla has also reached with him.

On the violence in Manipur, Chief of Defense Staff General Anil Chauhan today said that the challenges in the state are not over yet. In some time everything will be fine soon. He said the situation in the north-eastern state was no longer militancy related.

According to officials, the death toll in Manipur caste riots that started on May 3 has reached nearly 80. Anil Chauhan has reached Pune on Tuesday to inspect the passing out parade of the 144th course of the National Defense Academy. Over 10,000 personnel from the Indian Army and the Assam Rifles have been deployed to bring normalcy in Manipur. Flag march is being taken out by them in the state.
