Mahua Moitra: Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra has got new responsibility amid cash for query allegations. TMC on Monday appointed Mahua Moitra as the district president of Krishnanagar (Nadia North) in West Bengal ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in 2024. After getting the new responsibility from the party, Mahua Moitra has thanked CM Mamata Banerjee.

The TMC leader made a post on social media platform X to thank party chief and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for his appointment. She wrote in her post that I will always work with the party for the people of Krishnanagar.

Let us tell you that Moitra’s appointment as District President of Krishnanagar has come after the Lok Sabha Ethics Committee recommended her disqualification. At the same time, the TMC leader has denied the allegations against him in the cash-for-query case and called them derogatory, false and baseless.

It is noteworthy that the committee headed by Chairman Vinod Kumar Sonkar submitted its report on the allegations against Moitra to the office of Speaker Om Birla on last Friday i.e. November 10. The report, adopted by a majority in the committee, accused him of accepting illegal gratification for raising questions in Parliament at the behest of businessman Darshan Hiranandani.

In response to the Ethics Committee’s decision, Moitra said that the committee did not have the authority to recommend expulsion, and said that it was a fixed match from the beginning. He said there was no discussion on the draft report and the committee chairperson directly put it to vote.
