Mahua MoitraCash For Query Case: The Lok Sabha Ethics Committee on Thursday adopted its report on ‘cash-for-queries’ allegations against Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Mahua Moitra. Panel chief Vinod Sonkar said six members of the ethics panel supported the report on the allegations against TMC MP Mahua Moitra, while four members opposed it.

The members supporting the Ethics Committee report include Aparajita Sarangi, Rajdeep Roy, Sumedhanand Saraswati, Preneet Kaur, Vinod Sonkar, Hemant Godse. At the same time, the members opposing this report include Danish Ali, V Vaithilingam, PR Natarajan, Giridhari Yadav.

The committee headed by BJP MP Vinod Kumar Sonkar had also interrogated Nishikant Dubey and Anant Dehadrai, who had earlier filed a complaint against Mahua Moitra. After this, it was recommended to disqualify Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Mahua Moitra from Lok Sabha.

In this regard, on Thursday, the committee headed by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Vinod Kumar Sonkar held an important meeting. In this the 500-page report of the committee was accepted. After this meeting, committee chairman Vinod Kumar Sonkar held a press conference and said that six members of the committee supported accepting the report and four opposed it. In such a situation, it is believed that the problems of TMC MP may increase. Apart from this, his Parliament membership may also be in danger.

What is cash-for-query issue?

Let us tell you that BJP MP Nishikant Dubey had last month accused TMC leader Mahua Moitra of asking questions in Parliament in exchange for cash and gifts. He had claimed that bribes were exchanged between Mahua Moitra and businessman Darshan Hiranandani. Dubey had cited lawyer Jai Ananth Dehadrai’s letter, which mentioned alleged exchanges between Moitra and Hiranandani.

However, Mahua Moitra has denied all these allegations. He had also sent a legal notice to BJP MPs Nishikant Dubey and Jai Ananth Dehadrai. He had said that all these allegations are derogatory, wrong and baseless. The Ethics Committee was investigating this matter only.
