Kolkata Metro: Kolkata Metro, the capital of West Bengal, has created another history in India. For the first time in India, Metro has completed the journey under the Hooghly River. On Wednesday, the metro train ran about 13 meters below the river bed. Its trial took place under the underwater metro project. For this a tunnel has been constructed under the Hooghly river. At the same time, this metro will be trialled for seven months. After this the metro will be run regularly. This is another historic moment in the name of Kolkata Metro. Earlier in 1984, the first metro was started in the country.

Metro rake has crossed the Hooghly river today at 11.55 am. During this, Additional General Manager of Metro Railway HN Jaiswal and Kolkata Metro MD along with other senior officials were also present inside the Metro. Along with this, Reddy performed puja when the metro reached Howrah Maidan station. Whereas, at 11.40 am, that Metro rake left for Howrah Maidan from Mahakaran and reached Howrah Maidan at exactly 12 noon.

At the same time, the trial run of Kolkata Metro will soon be started on the 4.8 kilometer underground section from Howrah Maidan to Esplanade. Along with this, it is also believed that commercial services on this section will start this year. After the commissioning of this section, Howrah will become the deepest metro station in the country. The depth of this station is 33 meters below the surface. This tunnel has been made at a depth of 32 meters from the surface of the water in the river, which in itself is a great success of the engineers.

After its trial, the Metro official has said that this is a historic moment. There were many hurdles in completing this task, but after overcoming all the hurdles, we were able to run the rake down the Hooghly river on Wednesday. He said that this is a revolutionary step in the direction of providing modern transport to the people of Kolkata and nearby areas. Officials said that this is a special gift for the people of Kolkata.
