On social media, people of the Jain community are demanding the Karnataka government and the governor to punish the criminals and provide security to the Jain monks.

Jain monk Kamkumar Nandi Maharaj, who had been missing for two days from his ashram in Karnataka’s Belagavi district. He is murdered and his severed body parts are recovered from a borewell in Chikkodi taluk. On July 6, the manager of Basadi Bhimappa Ugare lodged a missing complaint of the Jain monk. Initial investigation revealed that Muni belonging to Digambara sect of Jainism used to lend money.

The monk was murdered for demanding repayment of the loan. The accused, identified as Narayan Basappa Madi and Hasan Dalayath, have confessed to the crime and said that they had dismembered the body. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had constituted an investigation team. Also, the officials were instructed to investigate the matter thoroughly.
