Karnataka Bandh Today: The protest that has been going on for 15 days in Karnataka regarding the water of Kaveri river continues today i.e. on Friday. Kannada supporters and farmer organizations have called for a Karnataka bandh for Friday to protest against the release of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu. In view of the Karnataka bandh called by farmer unions and several other organisations, Section 144 has been imposed in Mandya district, with schools and colleges also closed. Meanwhile, big information has come to light regarding the Karnataka bandh. In fact, 44 flights have been canceled at Bengaluru International Airport during the statewide lockdown.

According to media reports, Bengaluru airport officials said that flights have been canceled due to operational reasons. This information was informed to the passengers. However, sources regarding this said that the flights have been canceled due to the impact of Karnataka bandh as many passengers had canceled their tickets.

Protestors raised slogans at the airport

Pro-Kannada activists and farmers protested and raised slogans at Kempegowda Airport in Bengaluru. When the police tried to remove the protesters, they became more aggressive. In such a situation, the police took the protesters into custody. Police sources say that permission was given to protest in Freedom Park itself. Apart from this, demonstrations will be held anywhere, further action will be taken by detaining the protesters.

Protest continues for 15 days

Let us tell you that the workers of Auto Rickshaw Drivers Union and Ola Uber Drivers and Owners Association (OUDOA) have been protesting for the last 15 days against the release of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu. ‘Kannada Okkuta’, the leading organization of Kannada organizations, has called for Karnataka bandh today in support of the protesters. They allege that the Siddaramaiah government in the state has been lenient towards Tamil Nadu and is not handling the matter properly. Due to the demonstration and bandh, security arrangements have been tightened in the state.

Police detained many protesters

Police have detained many Kannada activists who were protesting. Kannada workers also tried to hold a protest on Hosur Road, after which the police detained the protesters here too and took them to the police station in a bus. On the other hand, the protesters say that they will not step back from the protest until their demands are met. Bengaluru City Commissioner B Dayanand says that more than 200 protesters have been detained near the Town Hall. Police are keeping a strict vigil on the situation.
