IPL 2024: ‘Those with salary of Rs 47 crore are sitting on the bench…’ former Indian opener’s taunt, RCB did not field 4 veterans including Siraj

New Delhi. Royal Challengers Bangalore had not fielded its four big players in the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad a day earlier. Since then this decision of the franchise is being criticized. The 4 players who were kept out of the playing-11 against Hyderabad include Mohammed Siraj, Glenn Maxwell, Cameron Green and Alzarri Joseph. The total salary received by all these players in this IPL is Rs 47 crore. Former Indian opener Abhinav Mukund took a dig at this issue in a tweet.

The tweet by Abhinav Mukund contained the auction price of those 4 players at which they were bought in the auction. "17.5+11.5+11+7 cr for RCB on the bench." Green was bought by RCB from Mumbai Indians for a huge sum of Rs 17.5 crore through trade, while Joseph was bought for Rs 11.5 crore. On the other hand, Maxwell and Siraj were retained by the team for Rs 11 crore and Rs 7 crore respectively.

The decision of the RCB team management to exclude such star players has sparked a new debate among fans and experts. Experts have also raised questions on the team management strategy. Some people argue that the presence of these players could have made a significant difference in the outcome of the match.
