Chinese vessel Shi Yan 6 enters Indian Ocean: Big news is coming regarding China’s Xian 6 ship. Xian 6 is said to have entered the Indian Ocean and its current location is the mid-ocean 90 eastern ridge. It is slowly moving towards Sri Lanka. If reports are to be believed, the Sri Lankan Foreign Minister says that Colombo has not allowed the Chinese ship to enter.
According to media reports, Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Ali Sabri while speaking to the media said that Colombo has not given permission to the Chinese ship Xian 6 to be imported into the island nation due to Indian security concerns. However, he clarified his comments by saying that talks are ongoing. He said that if the Chinese ship complied with Sri Lanka’s standard operating procedures, there would be no problem.
President Wickremesinghe had given this statement.
A month earlier, President Wickremesinghe had given an interview. In which he said that there is no Chinese spy ship in Sri Lanka and if the ship follows the SOP set by Sri Lanka then there is no problem in the docking permission. Chinese ship Shi Yan 6 will conduct joint military scientific research in the Sri Lankan EEZ and beyond in October-November 2023.
The ship was seen in Singapore on 14 September.
According to reports, the Chinese ship Xian 6 entered the Indian Ocean through the Strait of Malacca on September 23 and was spotted in Singapore on September 14 after leaving homeport Guangzhou on September 10.

According to media reports, about 48 Chinese scientific research vessels have been deployed in the Indian Ocean region since 2019, with the general area of deployment being the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea to the south as well as the Persian Gulf.
