Bihar Caste Survey: An all-party meeting was held today on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on the caste census report in Bihar. Caste-based data was discussed in this meeting, in which leaders of all nine parties of the state including JDU, RJD, BJP and Congress participated. At the same time, a petition has also been filed in the Supreme Court regarding the caste census report. The court will hear this matter on Friday i.e. 6th October. In this meeting, Nitish government presented the report before all the parties and discussed the economic survey.

Know whose population is so much

According to data released by the Bihar government, backward classes constitute 27 percent of the population, while extremely backward classes constitute 36 percent. Scheduled Castes constitute a little more than 19 percent and Scheduled Tribes constitute 1.68 percent. The upper castes, or upper castes, represent 15.52 percent of the population. Among OBCs, Yadavs constitute 14.26 per cent of the surveyed population, while Kushwaha and Kurmi constitute 4.27 and 2.87 per cent of the covered population.

Both phases of caste census completed

The first phase of the survey was to mark the houses and note down the names of the household members and their head, while the second phase of the survey was to fill the proforma on 17-point socio-economic indicators including caste, which has been completed. The press conference to announce these findings was led by Development Commissioner Vivek Singh. Despite facing legal challenges against the caste-based survey and opposition from some political parties, the Bihar government said the survey was important for social justice.

According to the caste survey report released by Bihar government, Brahmin 3.65 percent (4781280), Rajput 3.45 percent, Kayastha 0.60 percent, Kurmi 2.87 percent, Kushwaha 4.27 percent, Teli 2.8131 percent, Bhumihar 2.89 percent, Dhanuk 2.13 percent, Goldsmith 0.68 percent, Potter is 1.04 percent, carpenter is 1.45 percent, Yadav is 14.26 percent and barber is 1.59 percent, Musahar is 3.08 percent. Let us tell you that the first phase of caste census in Bihar was started on 7 January. First of all, houses were counted in it. After that, in the second phase, data like number of families, housing, income were collected.
