SCO Summit 2023: India on Tuesday virtually hosted the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Other member countries including Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian leader Vladimir Putin and Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif participated in it. Prime Minister Narendra Modi attacked Pakistan in this meeting without naming anyone. He said that some countries use cross-border terrorism as their policies and give shelter to terrorists.

PM Modi said in the SCO meeting that terrorism is a threat to regional and global peace. Member countries will have to fight against terrorism. He said that some countries use cross-border terrorism as an instrument of their policies and give shelter to terrorists. SCO should not hesitate to criticize such countries. SCO countries should condemn this in the strongest terms. The PM said that there should be no double standards on terrorism.
Effect of the situation in Afghanistan
The Prime Minister said that the situation in Afghanistan has a direct impact on the security of all our countries. India’s concerns and expectations regarding Afghanistan are similar to those of all SCO member states. We all have to try to unite for the welfare of the people. The land of Afghanistan should not be used to spread unrest in neighboring countries or promote extremist ideology.

PM Modi said that we do not see SCO as a neighboring country, but as a family. Security, economic development, connectivity, unity, respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, and environmental protection are important pillars of our approach to the SCO.
