Pakistan General Elections: The date of general elections in Pakistan has been revealed. The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Thursday told the country’s Supreme Court that elections will be held on February 11, 2024. In fact, petitions were filed in the Supreme Court of Pakistan regarding holding general elections on time. During the hearing regarding this, the date of Pakistan general elections was shared with the Supreme Court by the ECP’s lawyer.

Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) counsel Sajeel Swati told the three-member bench that the process of determining constituencies would be completed by January 29, which would ease the way for the elections.

The Election Commission’s counsel revealed the dates when the court resumed hearing on petitions seeking holding of elections within 90 days after the dissolution of the National Assembly and provincial assemblies. Earlier in the hearing, the Supreme Court of Pakistan had issued notice to the ECP and the federal government for their inputs on the elections within 90 days.

During this, CJP had said that there is no doubt that we all want elections, but a wrong impression is being created that we are not interested. In September, the ECP had said that general elections would be held in the last week of January 2024, without mentioning the exact date.

At the same time, earlier last week, Pakistan’s acting Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar had expressed hope that the ECP will soon announce the election date. Commenting on the issue of equal political space for parties in Pakistan, he had said that no political party has been kept out of the political process and the caretaker government is trying its best to assist in the electoral process.
