Nepal MP Arrested: A Nepal MP has been arrested for forging a degree. Nepali Congress MP Sunil Kumar Sharma bought higher secondary academic degree from Bihar and used it to pursue higher education in China. According to media reports, a team of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CIB) of Nepal Police arrested Sunil Sharma, a member of the House of Representatives of the ruling party, from Kathmandu. On investigation it was found that his 10 plus certificate is fake.
Was elected to the constituency of Morang-3
Sunil Kumar Sharma, elected to the House of Representatives from Morang-3, is considered very close to the Shekhar Koirala camp in the Nepali Congress. After his arrest, there has been a stir in the ruling coalition. Sharma’s arrest comes a day after calls for the resignation of Home Minister Narayan Kazi Shrestha and Finance Minister Prakash Sharan Mahat over the alleged smuggling of 100 kg gold seized last month.
On the night of July 18, 18 Chinese people, including an Indian, were arrested in connection with smuggling around 100 kg of gold without the knowledge of the tax department of Tribhuvan International Airport. After these scams came to light, Sharma had said that the Finance Minister and the Home Minister should resign from their posts.
Targeting the current Finance Minister and Home Minister, MP Sunil Kumar Sharma said that the police should have been given a time limit to nab the main culprit in this case and till the investigation is completed Both the ministers should have stepped down from their posts. However, the Finance Minister rejected his allegations outright. He said that Sharma was very upset with the government for refusing his request for insurance cover for the patients being treated at his private hospital.
