The airport usually welcomes the arrival of more than 100 flights in the evening. But due to heavy rains and strong winds the situation here became very serious. Many flights were diverted, while some flights were cancelled.

The impact of the storm extended beyond Dubai. Flood-like conditions also occurred throughout the United Arab Emirates and neighboring Bahrain. Schools have been closed across the emirate.
