Bangladesh Election: At present, the political temperature in the neighboring country Bangladesh is increasing. Before the elections, there has been a war between the leaders and workers of political parties. There is fierce ruckus between the ruling party and opposition workers. People of the opposition party are demonstrating on the streets. Meanwhile, police used batons and tear gas to disperse leaders and workers of opposition parties amid a political dispute over who would oversee the election.

According to media reports, Bangladesh police officers were killed after clashes broke out between supporters of ruling Sheikh Hasina’s Awami League at the Center and Bangladesh National Party of Leader of Opposition Khaleda Zia. Including about 300 people were injured. Bangladesh National Party supporters are protesting against the ruling Awami League to demand the next general election in January under a non-party caretaker government. Both national parties claimed that hundreds of leaders and workers from both sides were injured in the clash. Local journalists reported that the clash started around 6 pm on Sunday during a procession taken out by members of the ruling party and lasted for more than 2 hours.

Situation currently under control: Bangladesh Police

Bangladesh Police controlled the situation by firing tear gas shells and rubber bullets. Habiganj Sadar police station in-charge Badiuzzaman told that at present the situation is under control. However, it is not possible to say how many rounds of rubber bullets were fired and how many tear gas shells were fired. The country’s leading Bengali newspaper, Prothom Alo, reported that about 300 people were injured, some with gunshot wounds, in the clashes that took place in the evening of 19 August. Police were reported to have opened fire on supporters of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, which is led by former prime minister Khaleda Zia.
