Bangladesh Bus Accident: A painful road accident has happened in Bangladesh. Here in Jhalkathi district on Saturday, a bus full of passengers fell into a pond. 17 people have died in this accident, while 35 people have been injured. Due to this there was a hue and cry among the people. In a hurry, this information was given to the police. As soon as the information was received, the police along with the rescue team reached the spot and started the rescue operation. Giving information about the accident, the police said that more than 60 people were traveling in the accident bus. The bus was going from Bhandaria sub-district to Barishal, the south-west divisional headquarters. Meanwhile, the bus suddenly became uncontrolled and fell into the ditch.

Other passengers feared to be trapped

The police officer said that the divers have pulled out 17 bodies from the pond. The dead included eight women and three children. The death toll is likely to rise as the condition of several injured passengers remains critical. The police are also constantly trying to get the bus out with the help of a crane. Police sub-inspector Gautam Kumar Ghosh said that more bodies are suspected to be trapped inside the bus. All the injured are being treated at Jhalakthi’s main government hospital.

The accident happened due to the negligence of the driver

Giving information about the incident, Russell Mollah, a passenger who was injured in the bus accident, said that I was sitting right next to the driver’s seat. The driver did not take care while driving the bus, due to which the bus fell into the pond. He said that the driver was constantly talking to his assistant asking him to accommodate more passengers. Mollah lost his 75-year-old father in the accident, while his elder brother is still missing.
