Mahindra Thar SUV: Automobile giant Mahindra & Mahindra has announced that the 5-door Thar SUV will not debut in the country this year, rather the Mahindra Thar 5-door could now be launched in 2024. This news is going to be a bit of a shock for Thar lovers.
Mahindra Thar SUV recently achieved the milestone of 1 lakh sales. The model has achieved this milestone in less than 2.5 years. As of 1 May, the SUV had 58,000 open bookings. The Mahindra Thar SUV was launched in October 2020 and is a direct competitor to the Force Gurkha.
The carmaker is reportedly ramping up its production to clear the backlog of the Thar. The production capacity for the current model of the Mahindra Thar SUV currently stands at 8,000 units per month. As per reports, Mahindra is planning to increase the production capacity to 10,000 units per month.
The Mahindra Thar SUV is available in two different three-door models – 4x4WD and RWD. Mahindra Thar RWD comes in 3 variants: RWD Diesel MT variant, LX RWD Diesel MT trim variant and LX RWD Petrol AT variant. It is available in five colors Everest White, Aquamarine, Blazing Bronze, Red Rage, Napoli Black and Galaxy Gray SUV. Buyers also have a choice of hard-top, soft-top and convertible-top formats.
Currently, the Mahindra Thar is offered in both manual and automatic transmission with petrol and diesel options. The SUV can be bought at a starting price of Rs 10.54 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base model. On the other hand, the top-end variant costs Rs 16.78 lakh (ex-showroom). Mahindra Thar comes with 2.0-litre mStallion turbo-petrol engine, 1.5-litre mHawk diesel engine and 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine. The SUV comes mated to six-speed manual and automatic units.
