Also, Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh was a devotee of Lord Shri Krishna. This is the reason that one of these gates was named after Krishna Pal, which is now called Ajmeri Gate.

In the year 1853, Queen Elizabeth of Britain and Prince Albert of Wales were about to visit Jaipur. While preparing to welcome Prince Albert, the Maharaja had the idea to paint the city in one colour. What was it then, moving forward on his idea, he decorated the entire city situated in the park with pink color. After this, when Prince Albert reached Jaipur, he was surprised to see the hospitality and pink view of the city and the first name Pink City came out of his mouth.
