Navratri Special Story: The festival of Navratri is being celebrated with great pomp across the country. On these days, nine different forms of Mother Goddess are worshiped and fast is observed. Crowds of devotees are seen in the temples of Mata. It is believed that when Mother Sati had burnt herself in the Havan Khund, Lord Vishnu had cut the goddess’s body into 51 pieces with his Chakra. Wherever these pieces fell on the earth, those places are known as Shaktipeeth (Navratri Special Story). These 51 Shaktipeeths have great importance in Hindu religion. Not all Shaktipeeths of Mata are in India. Out of 51 Shaktipeeths, 9 Shaktipeeths are present in foreign countries. Let us know which Shaktipeeth is located outside India.
1-Bangladesh
There are four Shaktipeeths of Mata in Bangladesh, which are famous by the names of Sugandha Shaktipeeth, Karatoyaghat Shaktipeeth, Chattal Shaktipeeth and Yashore Shaktipeeth.
Sugandha Shaktipeeth
Sugandha Shaktipeeth is located in Shikarpur, 20 kilometers away from Barisal district of Bangladesh. Mother Sati’s nose had fallen in this Shaktipeeth. The goddess of this Shaktipeeth is also known as Sunanda, Devi Tara. Bhairav Baba established here is called Trayambak Bhairav.
Karatoyaghat Shaktipeeth
Karatoyaghat Shaktipeeth is located in Begada, Bhawanipur, Bangladesh. The anklet of Mata Sati’s left foot had fallen here. The goddess established here is known as Aparna and Bhairav Baba is known as Shiva Vaman.
Chattal Shaktipeeth
This Shaktipeeth is located in Chittagong, Bangladesh. The right arm of the goddess had fallen at this place. The goddess present in this Shaktipeeth is called Bhavani and Bhairavnath is called Chandrashekhar.
Yashore Shaktipeeth
This Shaktipeeth is established in Jessore Khulna place of Bangladesh. The palm of mother’s left hand had fallen at this place. The mother present here is called Yashoreshwari and Baba Bhairav is called Chandra.
2- Pakistan
There is a Shaktipeeth of Mata Sati in Balochistan, Pakistan, which is known as Hinglaj Shaktipeeth. The head of Goddess Sati had fallen at this place. The goddess present here is known as Kottri and Bhairavnath is known as Bhimlochan.
3-Tibet
Manas Shaktipeeth is present near Manasarovar, Tibet. The palm of Sati’s right hand had fallen at this place. The power of this Shaktipeeth is known as Dakshayani and Bhairav is known as Amar.
4-Nepal
Two Shaktipeeths of Mata, Guhyeshwari Shaktipeeth and Gandaki Shaktipeeth are located in Nepal.
Guhyeshwari Shaktipeeth
Guhyeshwari Shaktipeeth is present in Kathmandu, Nepal. Mother’s knees fell here. The Mother established here is known as Mahamaya and Bhairav is known as Kapal.
Gandaki Shaktipeeth
Gandaki Shaktipeeth is located near Gandaki River of Nepal. The cheek of Mata Sati had fallen at this place. The goddess present here is called Gandaki and Bhairav is called Chakrapani.
5-Sri Lanka
There is a Shaktipeeth located in Sri Lanka, which is known as Lanka Shaktipeeth. The goddess established in this Shaktipeeth is called Indrakshi and Baba Bhairav is called Raksheshwar.
