National Highway closed in Jammu and Kashmir

There was considerable improvement in the weather in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday morning as the water level in Tawi and Chenab rivers receded. However, the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway is still closed as road repair work is underway in Ramban district.

Water released from Hathinikund Barrage

The Delhi government on Sunday issued a flood alert as Haryana released over one lakh cusecs of water from the Hathinikund barrage into the Yamuna river. On behalf of the Irrigation and Flood Control Department, it was said that at around 4 pm, 1,05,453 cusecs of water was released. Normally, the flow rate at the barrage is 352 cusecs, but heavy rainfall in the catchment areas increases the discharge. It takes about two to three days for the water from the barrage to reach Delhi. After this, there is every possibility of increasing the water level of Yamuna.

50 year old bridge washed away in Himachal

A 50-year-old bridge connecting Aut in Mandi district to Larji next to Sainj and Banjar was washed away in heavy rains. Former state Chief Minister Jairam Thakur expressed concern over the important historical significance of these bridges for Himachal and said that they are the “identity of Himachal”.
