UP Lok Sabha election 2024 Phase 1 Voting:Voting is in Saharanpur, Kairana, Muzaffarnagar, Bijnor, Nagina, Moradabad, Rampur and Pilibhit of Uttar Pradesh from 7 am on April 19. 48 hours before that, on Wednesday evening, the election noise stopped. Triangular competition in Saharanpur
From Saharanpur Lok Sabha seat, BJP has fielded Raghav Lakhanpal, SP-Congress alliance has fielded Imram Masood and BSP has fielded Majid Ali. BSP’s Haji Fazlur Rehman had won the 2019 elections. 5 lakh 14 thousand 139 votes were received. BJP’s Raghav Lakhanpal got 4 lakh 91 thousand 722 votes and Congress’s Imran Masood got 2 lakh 7 thousand 68 votes. This seat was won by BJP’s Raghav Lakhanpal in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. Imran Masood of Congress was in second place. This time there is a tough competition between the three parties.
Jat leaders face to face in Muzaffarnagar
In Muzaffarnagar, MP Sanjeev Baliyan from BJP, Harendra Malik from SP-Congress and Dara Singh Prajapati from BSP are in the fray. In 2019, Sanjeev Baliyan had won by defeating the then RLD President Chaudhary Ajit Singh by 6 thousand votes. Ajit Singh got 5,67,254 votes and Sanjeev got 573,780 votes. This time there is an alliance between BJP and RLD. There is a triangular contest between BJP, SP and BSP. Sanjeev Baliyan had also won in 2014 by defeating BSP’s Kadir Rana.
Tough fight between SP and BJP in Kairana
BJP’s Pradeep Chaudhary, SP’s Iqra Hasan and BSP’s Shripal Rana are in the fray in Kairana Lok Sabha seat. There is a tough competition between BJP and SP. In 2019, BJP’s Pradeep Chaudhary defeated SP’s Tabassum Hasan. Tabassum Hasan got 4,74,801 votes and Pradeep got 566,961 votes. In the 2018 by-election, Tabassum Hasan defeated BJP’s Mriganka Singh. In 2014, BJP’s Hukum Singh defeated SP candidate Nahid Hasan.
All three parties gave new faces in Bijnor
Chandan Chauhan of RLD from NDA, Deepak Saini of SP and Bijendra Singh of BSP are facing each other in Bijnor Lok Sabha seat. All three parties have fielded new faces. In 2019, BSP’s Malook Nagar became MP by defeating BJP’s Bharatendra Singh. Angered by being denied ticket, Nagar has joined RLD. In 2019, he got 556,556 votes and BJP’s Bharatendra Singh got 4,86,362 votes. In 2014, Bharatendra Singh became MP by defeating SP’s Shahnawaz Rana.

In Nagina Lok Sabha, SP’s Manoj Kumar, Azad Samaj Party’s Chandrashekhar, BJP’s Om Kumar and BSP’s Surendra Singh are facing each other. There are chances of a four-cornered contest on this seat in Western UP. In 2019, BSP’s Girish Chandra defeated BJP candidate Yashwant Singh. Yashwant got 4,01,546 votes and Girish got 568,378 votes. In 2014, Yashwant Singh was elected MP by defeating Yashveer Singh of SP.
ST Hasan can spoil the game in Moradabad
In Moradabad Lok Sabha seat, Samajwadi Party has fielded Ruchi Veera Singh, BJP has fielded Sarvesh Singh and BSP has fielded Irfan Saifi. There are possibilities of a triangular contest here. In 2019, SP’s ST Hasan defeated BJP candidate Sarvesh Singh. Whereas, in 2014, Sarvesh Singh defeated ST Hasan. ST Hasan is angry with the ticket being cut this time. He can create problems for SP.
Jitin Prasad replaces Varun in Pilibhit
In Pilibhit Lok Sabha seat, BJP has canceled the ticket of sitting MP Varun Gandhi and made Jitin Prasad its candidate. Whereas, SP has fielded Bhagwat Sharan Gangwar and BSP has fielded Anish Babu Khan. Pilibhit is considered a strong seat of BJP, but Varun Gandhi’s displeasure may prove costly. In 2019, Varun Gandhi had won from here and in 2014, his candidate Maneka Gandhi had won from here.
Azam’s absence will be missed in Rampur
In Rampur, the traditional seat of SP leader Azam Khan, BJP has fielded sitting MP Ghanshyam Lodhi, SP has fielded Mohibullah Nadvi and BSP has fielded Zeeshan Khan. There are possibilities of a triangular contest. In 2019, Azam Khan defeated BJP’s Jayaprada by about 1.25 lakh votes. Jayaprada got 4,49,180 votes and Azam Khan got 559,177 votes. In 2014, BJP’s Naypal Singh defeated SP’s Naseer Ahmed.
BJP was able to win only three out of eight seats
There was a huge loss last time on eight Lok Sabha seats of the first phase of Uttar Pradesh. SP BSP alliance had won five out of eight seats. BJP was able to win only Kairana, Muzaffarnagar and Pilibhit seats, but after the agreement with RLD, the political equations seem favorable for BJP this time. However, the resentment of farmers and some social organizations may be overwhelming.
