Ayodhya Police Encounter: Naseem, accused of attacking a female policewoman returning from duty during the Sawan fair in the Saryu Express train, was killed in an encounter by the STF after a joint operation and two other miscreants are injured. Both of them have been admitted to the hospital for treatment. In this encounter, SO Purakalandar Ratan Sharma and two other policemen were also shot.

Main accused killed in encounter

The three accused have been identified as Anees, Azad and Vishambhar Dayal. The main accused Anees, who was killed in the encounter, was molesting a woman constable in the train. When the female constable threw Anees, his other comrades attacked the female constable with a sharp weapon and left her bleeding. There were two fractures on his skull. He was admitted to KGMC Hospital (KGMC) in Lucknow and his condition remains stable.

Case was registered under several sections

Following a written complaint by the constable’s brother, an FIR was registered under relevant sections of the IPC and investigation was initiated by UP Police SIT and RPF to nab the accused. A few days later, on September 4, after receiving a message regarding the attack, Allahabad High Court Chief Justice Pritinkar Diwakar took action as per his own. Besides, RPF was also reprimanded and many questions were raised for the delay in investigation.
