Firozabad New Name: It has been announced to change the name of Firozabad in Uttar Pradesh. This proposal to change the name of the city has been passed in Firozabad Municipal Corporation. The proposal to rename Firozabad, the wedding city famous for bangles, as Chandranagar was passed in the Municipal Corporation Executive meeting yesterday i.e. on Thursday. Let us tell you that this is the second time when a proposal to change the name of the city has been passed. Earlier, this proposal was also passed in the District Panchayat meeting in August 2021. In the Municipal Corporation meeting, a total of 11 out of 12 executive members supported this proposal.
Proposal sent to CM Yogi for final approval
This proposal passed from the Municipal Corporation has now been sent to the government of UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for final approval, after getting the approval from the government, Firozabad district will be known as Chandranagar. According to media reports, the executive members said that Firozabad was earlier named Chandranagar. Therefore, the name has not been changed, rather the earlier name has been given respect. There was a proposal before the board that Firozabad should be renamed as Chandranagar. It has now been approved.
Know how Firozabad got its name
Firozabad district was created in Uttar Pradesh on 5 February 1989 and it was known as Firozabad district. It is said that the city was named Firozabad after the commander of Mughal emperor Akbar, Firozshah. Actually, if we talk about the story behind this, one of the Navaratnas of Akbar was King Todar Mal. Who were going to perform Pind Daan of their ancestors. Then the robbers committed a robbery with them, in which many of their camels were looted. After this he narrated his pain to King Akbar. He told Akbar that you are such a great emperor and such incidents are happening in your place. Then Firoz Shah, the commander of Akbar’s army, was sent here and he eliminated the robbers here. After this Firoz Shah started living here and this city came to be known as Firoz Shah. After that he died and his tomb was built in the name of Firoz Shah which still exists today.
History of Chandranagar
Actually, if we talk about the history of Chandranagar, before the Mughal rule, there is a place in Firozabad where King Chandrasen had his kingdom. King Chandrasen used to sit in his palace and listen to the problems of the people and solve them. Chandranagar was situated there. Therefore it was known as Chandranagar. King Chandrasen was a very brave warrior. However, at present Chandrasen’s court there has turned into ruins. According to reports, changing the name of the city costs Rs 300 to 500 crore. After the coming of the BJP government in UP, the efforts to change the names of the districts and cities of the state during the Mughal period have intensified.
The name has been changed before also
Let us tell you that earlier a proposal to change the name of Aligarh to Hari Garh was also passed. Apart from this, the name of Faizabad was changed to Ayodhya and the name of Allahabad was changed to Ayodhya.
