The locust department says that the density of locusts found in the survey is currently low. Rajasthan has received good rainfall this year. The rains are still continuing from Barmer to Bikaner and Jaisalmer. This is the reason why there is still moisture in the areas of western Rajasthan. This is considered a favorable condition for locusts. In view of this, a survey is being conducted twice a month by the Locust Department in many districts of Rajasthan including Barmer. During this, adult locusts have been seen in Bikaner.
Locusts had caused loss of crores of rupees in 2019-20
Let us tell you that in the year 2019 and 20, the swarm of locusts that came from Pakistan to many districts of Rajasthan and Gujarat destroyed the standing crops in many areas of Rajasthan and Gujarat. Due to this, thousands of farmers of these two states had suffered a loss of crores of rupees. According to a figure, at that time 6000 hectares of crops were sprayed to kill locusts.

Home remedy was done to save grasshopper
Apart from this, the farmers of Barmer and Jaisalmer districts had made many efforts to drive away the locusts. By playing thali, playing DJ or inhaling smoke inside the fields, indigenous measures were taken to save locusts from their respective fields. During the night, a swarm of lakhs of locusts used to attack the crops standing in the field. Many times the farmers had destroyed lakhs of locusts by spraying spray collectively in this area.
