Biparjoy Cyclone in Rajasthan: After Gujarat, the maximum impact of Biparjoy Cyclone is visible in Rajasthan. It is raining continuously in many districts of the state, due to which most of the rivers and streams here are in spate. In the desert city of Jalore, the situation has worsened due to continuous 36 hours of rain. Apart from this, flood like situation has also developed in Sirohi and Barmer.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said that due to Biparjoy cyclone, there is no possibility of getting relief from rain at present. SDRF teams are evacuating people from sensitive areas and taking them to safer places. Water has entered the city of Sanchore due to the breaking of the Surava dam of Raniwada in Jalore. Shops have been filled with water up to 5 to 6 feet. At the same time, the hospitals of Ajmer are seen full of water. Due to rain in Jodhpur, Pali and Sirohi, there has been a lot of destruction. Flood situation persists in many areas here. Rajasthan Disaster and Relief Secretary PC Kishan said that there is an alert of heavy rain in the next 15-20 hours in many parts of the state including Barmer, Jalore and Sirohi. Our teams are on alert mode. Many dams of Pindwara, Abu Road and Rewar are now full. The water level of Sirohi’s Batisa Dam is currently 315 meters high.
Four people, including a woman, have died in two separate rain-related incidents in Barmer and Rajsamand districts. According to Barmer’s Sevda police station chief Hansaram, two minor brothers died due to drowning in a pond in Gangasara village on Sunday morning. The dead bodies were taken out and handed over to their relatives after postmortem. On the other hand, Premsingh Rajput and Lalibai of Kelwa police station area died after the balcony of their house fell due to landslide in Baghota village of Rajsamand. According to Rajkumar Gupta, Commandant, State Disaster Relief Force, 39 civilians stranded in flood-affected Od Basti in Bhinmal town of Jalore have been rescued. Twenty people, who were stranded in their houses due to water-logging in the low-lying areas of Dhaurimanna town in Barmer district, were also rescued and taken to a safer place.
Heavy rain alert in many cities of the state
A red alert has been issued by the Indian Meteorological Department in Udaipur, Rajsamand, Pali and Sirohi for the next 24 hours. An official of the Meteorological Department said that heavy to very heavy rainfall may occur at isolated places in Ajmer, Bhilwara, Chittorgarh, Dungarpur, Tonk, Bundi, Jaipur, Nagaur and Jalore. Sharma said that light rain is also expected in Bikaner, Hanumangarh, Ganganagar and Churu.
