A 45-year-old Dalit woman was allegedly raped and burnt by her neighbor in Rajasthan’s Barmer district on April 6. He died during treatment at a government hospital in Jodhpur. National Commission for Women Chairperson Rekha Sharma has written a letter to the DGP of Rajasthan Police for a fair and timely investigation in the matter and said that if the allegations made are found to be true, then action will be taken under the provisions of the law. Family ready for postmortem

After protesting outside the hospital for more than 18 hours, the victim’s family agreed for the post-mortem. During this, the family members alleged that the police initially showed hesitation in registering the case. The Dalit community protested against the incident and demanded that a compensation of Rs 1 crore be given to the family, a government job and death sentence to the accused. After getting the assurance from the district administration that their demands would be fulfilled, the family members ended the protest and got the post-mortem done.

Police arrested the accused

Taking immediate action after the rape of a Dalit woman in Barmer, the police arrested the accused. On this matter, Pachpadra DSP Madanlal Meena said that the accused Shakoor Khan has been arrested and the entire matter is being investigated.

Politics has also started after the Barmer rape case. In Rajasthan, the BJP has formed a committee of three members related to this matter. Those who have been included in this committee include Pali MP PP Chowdhary, MLA Jogeshwar Garg and Mayor Vanita Seth. Strongly criticizing the incident, Leader of the Opposition in the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly, Rajendra Rathod said that it is a failure of the Ashok Gehlot government as it has not been able to rectify the law and order situation in the state.

Along with this, Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat also attacked the government fiercely and said that women are not feeling safe in the Ashok Gehlot government. Also further said that a Dalit woman was raped in broad daylight by a Muslim man and the woman was also burnt alive.
