PM Modi Security Breach in Punjab: The then SP Operation Gurbinder Singh Sangha has been suspended following the report of the Home Affairs and Justice Department of the Punjab Government in view of the security lapse during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Ferozepur. In this regard, orders have been issued by Gurkirat Kripal Singh, Secretary, Home and Justice Department. Along with this, Gurbinder Sangha has been instructed to submit a report to the Head Office DGP Office, Chandigarh during this period. They will not be able to leave the headquarters without permission.

Case of lapse in PM’s security

PM Modi was going from Bathinda to Firozpur by road on January 5, 2022, but farmers blocked the road. After which his convoy stopped for 20 minutes at the Pyare flyover of Firozpur. From where his convoy had to take a U-turn and return. After reaching Bhisiana Airport in Bathinda, PM Modi said that thanks to your Chief Minister, I came back alive. After this this matter gained a lot of importance. This flyover was located a short distance from the Hussainiwala border of India-Pakistan.

Name disclosed in investigation committee

The then Chief Secretary Anirudh Tiwari and DGP Siddharth Chattopadhyay were also made accused in the report of the inquiry committee constituted by the Supreme Court regarding negligence in the security of the Prime Minister in Ferozepur. The committee had submitted this report to the Supreme Court and the government eight months ago in August 2022. On the basis of this report, the Center had written a letter to the Punjab Government in September 2022 to take action against the guilty officials.

Earlier, SSP Harmandeep Hans was held responsible for this entire incident. The report of the committee formed on the instructions of the Supreme Court has revealed the negligence of the then Chief Secretary and DGP. It was also said that whatever responsibilities the officers had, they could not fulfill them properly. IG (SPG) RR Bhagat had informed the police officers about the situation in time. But still no action was taken in time.
