Punjab Assembly Session: The special session of Punjab Assembly has started from Friday i.e. today. The session itself has started with uproar. Also, Governor Banwari Lal Purohit has already declared this session illegal. Meanwhile, Punjab Leader of Opposition and Congress leader Pratap Singh Bajwa said that the state is facing a constitutional crisis.

Bajwa told the speaker whether the session was legal or illegal.

Congress leader Pratap Singh Bajwa asked Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan to clarify whether the two-day assembly session that began on Friday after Governor Banwarilal Purohit’s objection is legal or not. He said that the Governor has already withheld approval of money bills. He said that when the session itself is not valid then what issue are we busy discussing here. On this the Speaker assured the House that the session was legal.

Opposition running away from SYL debate: Harpal Cheema

Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema said the Congress was running away from the session because its leader and then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi had planned the SYL canal and then leader Captain Amarinder Singh had attended the foundation stone laying ceremony. He said that Shiromani Akali Dal had also helped in the construction of SYL canal in Haryana in exchange for benefits. Both SAD and Congress are running away from the debate as they know that the session will expose their misdeeds on SYL. On this the Congress members started raising slogans against the Speaker.

Meanwhile, Agniveer Amritpal Singh, who was martyred in a recent accident on the Indian border in Jammu and Kashmir, has been declared a martyr. During this, tribute was also paid to the soldiers martyred while serving in various states.
