Diwali 2023: Sri Harmandir Sahib Amritsar has been decorated with beautiful lights on the occasion of Diwali and Bandi Chhor Diwas. What is release day?
On the day of Diwali, Shri Ram had defeated Ravana and returned to Ayodhya with Mother Sita and Lakshman, but on this day in Sikh history, Shri Guru Hargobind Singh, with his wisdom, freed 52 kings from Mughal slavery. This incident occurred during the reign of Emperor Jahangir over India. Seeing the growing influence of Sikhism, Emperor Jahangir imprisoned the sixth Sikh Guru Hargobind Singh. He was imprisoned in Gwalior Fort. There were already 52 Hindu kings imprisoned here, but coincidentally when Jahangir imprisoned Sri Guru Hargobind Singh, he became very ill.
Even after much treatment, he was not improving. Qazi advised Sri Guru Hargobind Singh Ji to go, but Sri Hargobind Singh refused to go alone and asked to release all the kings. After listening to Guru Hargobind Singh, Jahangir also put a condition that only that king would go out with him who could hold the buttons of his dress, but Shri Guru Hargobind Singh wore a kurta which had 52 buttons. 52 The king captured the fort of Gwalior and came out. After his release, Diwali is also celebrated as Prisoner’s Day.
