MP ELECTION:Bhopal. Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Anupam Rajan has said that 3 lakh 25 thousand 820 polling workers in the state have voted through postal ballot and EDC. In the counting of votes to be held on December 3, along with the counting of their votes, the votes of 51259 voters above 80 years of age, 12083 disabled people and 1113 essential services employees will be counted.

He said that once the counting of votes starts, the counting of votes from EVMs will start from 8.30 am without the declaration of results. Earlier, EVM votes were counted only after the counting of postal votes was completed, but this time it is not so. As soon as the counting of postal votes is completed, the returning officer will declare the results assembly wise. Meanwhile, round wise results of EVM counting will also be declared.

Giving information about the preparations for counting of votes, Chief Electoral Officer Rajan said that apart from the observers, only the Returning Officer, Assistant Returning Officer and Counting Supervisor will have mobile phones at the counting venue. Since these officers are associated with ETPB, they will be able to carry mobile phones only for the OTP required to open the ETPBMS system. After that they will switch off the mobile and deposit it with the observer.

Rajan said that earlier 14 tables were to be installed in each counting centre, but based on the need, permission has been taken from the Election Commission to increase its number and now finally 4369 counting tables will be installed. There has been a change in its numbers in two days. Rajan said that in the elections, 3 lakh 4 thousand 623 polling personnel have cast their votes through postal ballot and 21197 polling personnel have cast their votes through EDC. Rajan said that postal ballots will be accepted till 8 am before the counting of votes but these will be postal ballots of voters working in the army for which contact has been made through the post office. There will be a counting supervisor, a counting assistant and a micro observer on the counting table of the EVM. Similarly, there will be one assistant returning officer, one counting supervisor, two counting assistants and one micro observer at the counting table of postal ballot.
