Electricity problem: Electricity is available for 4 hours instead of 10, farmers surrounded

Datia. These days, in Datia district of Madhya Pradesh, farmers seem to be extremely distressed due to lack of electricity. Instead of 10 hours of electricity for farming, farmers are getting only 4 to 5 hours of electricity and in some places the situation is even worse. The crops standing in the farmers’ fields are also now on the verge of drying up. The farmer is forced to face a double blow. It is not raining here and on top of that there is no electricity available either. If this condition continues then it will be difficult to have a Kharif crop this time. Farmers worried about electricity have now taken to the streets in protest.

Today, hundreds of farmers from about a dozen villages of Bhander section reached Unav Electricity Sub Station and surrounded the sub station. Hearing the news of siege of the sub-station, Unav police station reached the spot and tried to find a solution by talking to the farmers and electricity department personnel. Farmers allege that farmers of about a dozen villages of Village Kamad Feeder are neither getting electricity for agriculture nor electricity for the population. People say that the situation has become very worse in the last twenty-five days. At the same time, the top officials of the electricity department give only one rote answer, that the problem is due to increase in load.
