CBSE Exam News: No division and distinction will be available in 10th, 12th examinations.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is expected to release the date sheet for Secondary School Examination (Class X) and Senior School Certificate Theory Examination (Class XII) soon. The datesheet is expected to be released in the first week of December. Earlier, CBSE released an important notice for calculating the percentage of Secondary School (Class X) and Senior School Certificate Examinations (Class XII). CBSE Examination Controller Sanyam Bhardwaj said that CBSE will now not give any division, distinction in class 10, 12 board examinations.

Calculation will also not be done by CBSE

The Board has been receiving requests from various people to explain the criteria for calculating the percentage of students in the Board examinations. The notification said that in this regard it is informed that sub-section 40.1 (iii) of Chapter 7 of the examination stipulates that no overall division/distinction/aggregate will be given. Apart from this, the board has also made it clear that the percentage of marks in class 10th and 12th will not be calculated by CBSE.

5 subjects will be decided by the admission institution

Further, if a candidate has offered more than 5 subjects, the decision to determine the best 5 subjects may be taken by the admitting body or employer. If the percentage of marks is required for higher education or employment then the calculation, if any, may be done by the admission institute or the employer. Earlier, CBSE had also done away with the practice of releasing merit list to avoid unhealthy competition.

When will the exams be held?

CBSE board exams for class 10th and 12th will be held between 15 February to 10 April 2024.
