Ujjain. Today the first ride of Bhado month was taken out with much fanfare. Rajadhiraj Baba Mahakal, seated in the form of Chandra Chandramoleshwar in a silver palanquin, set out on a city tour to know the condition of the people. Today Baba Mahakal appeared to his devotees in the form of Shri Chandrashekhar. The royal procession will be taken out on 11th September.
The tradition of taking out the ride of ghostly spirit Baba Mahakal in the month of Sawan and Bhado has been going on since time immemorial. Due to this tradition, today on the first Monday of Bhado month, the ride of Lord Mahakal was taken out.
At 4 pm in the assembly hall of the temple, under the leadership of the chief priest of the temple, Pandit Ghanshyam Sharma, Mayor Mukesh Tatwal and Corporation Commissioner Roshan Singh offered prayers to Baba Mahakal, shouldered the palanquin and sent Mahakal for a tour of the city.
During this, Mahakal was given a guard of honor by the police contingent at the main gate of the temple. After this, Rajadhiraj, riding in the form of Chandramouleshwar in a silver palanquin, set out on a city tour to know the condition of the people with royal pomp and show.
Today Baba Mahakal appeared to his devotees in the form of Shri Chandrashekhar. When Man Mahesh on the elephant, Shiva Tandava on the Garuda chariot, Uma Mahesh on the Nandi chariot, Mukharvind of Holkar State on the Dol chariot and Jata Shankar, Shri Rudreshwar and Shri Chandrashekhar came out seated on the new chariot, the devotees spread flowers to welcome their king. When the procession reached Ramghat, Baba Mahakal was anointed with the holy water of Shipra and worshipped.
After that, the procession again reached Mahakal Temple via its traditional route Gangaur Darwaza Dhaba Road, Gopal Mandir and Patni Bazaar. Apart from the police band, mounted police contingent, police contingent and bhajan troupe also participated in the procession.
Thousands of devotees stood on both sides of the ride route for hours to get a glimpse of Baba Mahakal. The administration has made extensive security arrangements on the entire ride route.
