Bhopal. MP Agriculture Department has started advance storage of chemical fertilizers like urea, DAP etc. So far, about 60 per cent of the total demand for the season has been stored. For the first time after a long time, it will happen in the state that advance stocking is being done to meet the demand of Kharif and Rabi season. Till now it used to happen that due to less storage than required, there used to be a shortage of urea. Due to this, there used to be protest demonstrations in many places along with resentment among the farmers, but this year it will not happen. In Madhya Pradesh, about 13 lakh metric tonnes of urea, DAP, NFL etc. are required for Kharif and Rabi seasons. The government has already started its advance storage. To ensure that the farmers do not face any shortage of urea, urea consignments are arriving almost every day, even in the off-season. So far, about 6.88 lakh metric tonnes of urea, DAP has been stocked. The Agriculture Department is hopeful that if this situation of arrival continues, then by May 31, there will be a bumper stock of 10.50 lakh metric tonnes of urea, DAP etc. All arrangements have been made in the respective godowns for storage.

In the same period last year, the stock was only 5.50 lakh metric tonnes, this year it has become 6.88 lakh metric tonnes. This is about one lakh 38 thousand metric tonnes more than last year. In the coming two months, it will exceed 11 lakh metric tonnes. NFL has the highest 30 percent stock in this. While the remaining stock is of fertilizers of companies like IFFCO, Chambal Fertilizer etc.
