A new kind of cheating is going on in the state. This fraud is being done by sending SMS for disconnection of electricity connection and updating of bills. This time the professor and principal of the college have become victims of the fraud. The thugs first sent an SMS to the professor and the principal to disconnect the connection for not updating the bill. Then on calling them, the thugs got an application downloaded on their mobiles. Due to which the thugs gained control over the mobile and withdrew Rs 30,000 from the account of the professor and the principal.

After this fraud, Principal of RPL Maheshwari College, Dr. Rajeev Kumar Jhalani and Professor Prashant Patel have complained about this to the cybercrime police station. Prashant Patel told about this fraud that on June 19, when the online payment system from the principal’s account was stopped, he paid the bill of Principal Dr. Jhalani through his Paytm. On July 6, the principal received an SMS that the bill has not been paid. On this the principal sent me a message. When I spoke on the number given in the SMS, the person in front asked to update the bill.

Asked to download RustDesk application

The thug asked the college professor to first download RustDesk application in his mobile from Google Play Store. As soon as the application was downloaded, the thug asked to pay Rs 10 through debit card. As soon as 10 rupees were paid, about 30 thousand rupees were deducted from the account one after the other. After this the professor understood that he had been cyber cheated. After complaining to the bank in the matter, a complaint was also made to the police.
