Rahul Gandhi Defamation Case: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has received a big blow from the Jharkhand High Court. In 2018, the High Court rejected Rahul Gandhi’s petition while giving its verdict in the case of derogatory remarks against Home Minister Amit Shah. Now the trial against Rahul in this case will go on in the lower court. MP/MLA court had issued summons to Rahul Gandhi. He had filed a petition against this in the High Court. In the last hearing, the court had reserved the decision.

Rahul Gandhi had made objectionable remarks against BJP’s Amit Shah during a press conference in 2018. BJP leader Naveen Jha had complained about this matter. Naveen Jha, filing a defamation case in the Jharkhand High Court, had alleged that Rahul Gandhi had made objectionable remarks against the then BJP national president Amit Shah. The case pertains to the election speech given by the former Congress president during the 2018 Congress session in Chaibasa.

On 16 February, Rahul Gandhi’s written side was presented in the court. After which the bench of Justice Ambujnath had reserved the decision.

Sultanpur court granted bail in UP
Rahul Gandhi had made alleged objectionable remarks against Shah at a press conference in Bengaluru on May 8 in 2018 during the Karnataka elections. On August 4, 2018, BJP leader Vijay Mishra of Sultanpur in UP filed a defamation case against Rahul Gandhi. A special court in Sultanpur had granted bail to Gandhi on 20 February.

Punishment was given in defamation case only
Surat Court had sentenced Rahul Gandhi to two years in the Modi surname case. After this he had to lose the membership of Lok Sabha. The bungalow was also snatched away. However, when the matter reached the Supreme Court, his sentence was stayed. After this his Lok Sabha membership was restored.
