LAHDC Election Result 2023: In the first elections held after the removal of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir, the Congress and National Conference alliance has won the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Council elections in Kargil. Here Congress and NC have given a crushing defeat to BJP.
The counting of elections for the 26-seat Ladakh Council is going on here. Of these, the results of 22 seats have been released. In which Congress won eight seats and National Conference won 11 seats. At the same time, BJP has won only 2 seats so far. Apart from this, one seat has gone to the account of an independent candidate.
Feeling happy with the big victory of the alliance- Mehbooba
People’s Democratic Party chief Mehbooba Mufti said that it is a matter of joy to see secular parties like NC and Congress winning in Kargil. PDP did not contest the elections. Mehbooba Mufti posted on Twitter that initial trends showed a big victory for the alliance. He wrote in his post that he is happy to see secular parties like NC and Congress registering their victory in Kargil. This is the first election after 2019 and the people of Ladakh have spoken about it.
According to data from the third round of voting for the fifth LAHDC elections, around 65 per cent voters turned out to vote in Kargil district. Let us inform that following the direction of the Supreme Court early last month, the Ladakh administration announced the elections for the fifth LAHDC in the Kargil region.
Alliance of National Conference and Congress
It is noteworthy that elections for 26 seats of 30-member LAHDC were held on October 4. Before this election, Congress joined hands with National Conference and fielded 22 candidates and NC had fielded 17.
