The Disaster Management Authority issued a warning saying that low danger avalanches are likely to occur in Doda, Poonch, Kishtwar and Ramban districts above 3500 meters above sea level in the next 24 hours. In such a situation, there is an atmosphere of fear in the minds of the people. Anything can happen at any time. There has been panic among the people since the warning. The Disaster Management Authority has advised people living in Doda, Kishtwar, Poonch and Ramban areas to take precautions. Said not to go to avalanche prone areas till further orders.

The Disaster Management Authority said that low-level avalanches may occur in these identified areas in the next 24 hours. According to this department, there is a possibility of low danger level avalanches in Doda, Kishtwar, Poonch and Ramban districts in the next 24 hours. It may be noted that on March 25, the Disaster Management Authority had also issued an avalanche warning in several districts of Jammu and Kashmir. It was being told that low danger avalanches could occur in several districts of Jammu and Kashmir at an altitude of 2,800 to 3,000 meters above sea level.

The Jammu and Kashmir Disaster Management Authority had warned on Saturday that there is a possibility of avalanches in Baramulla, Ganderbal, Kishtwar, Doda, Kupwara, Poonch, Ramban, Anantnag, Reasi and Kulgam. The authority had asked people living in these areas to remain alert. It was told to take precautions till further orders and avoid going to avalanche-prone areas.
