Article 370 Verdict: The Supreme Court has given an important decision on the abrogation of Article 370 which gives special status to Jammu and Kashmir. On this occasion, the Supreme Court upheld the Centre’s arguments on the removal of Article 370. It is clear that Article 370 is only a temporary provision, not permanent. Regarding this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also posted on X and described the decision of the Supreme Court as historic.

PM Modi posted on Facebook that today’s Supreme Court decision on abrogation of Article 370 is historic and constitutionally upholds the decision taken by the Parliament of India on August 5, 2019. This is a resounding declaration of hope, progress and unity for our sisters and brothers in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. He further said that the Court, with its profound knowledge, has strengthened the very essence of unity which we, as Indians, hold dear and cherish above all else.

He further said that I want to assure the people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh that our commitment to fulfill your dreams is unwavering. We are committed to ensuring that the benefits of progress not only reach you, but also reach the most vulnerable and marginalized sections of our society who suffered because of Article 370.

PM Modi said today’s decision is not just a legal decision, it is a ray of hope, a promise of a brighter future and a testament to our collective resolve to build a stronger, more united India.

Supreme Court ruled

A five-judge Constitution bench headed by CJI DY Chandrachud on Monday delivered its verdict on petitions challenging the central government’s decision to abrogate Article 370. It said that the decision to remove Article 370 was constitutional. The constitutional bench of the Supreme Court clarified that all the provisions of the Constitution apply to Kashmir and Jammu and Kashmir is at par with other states and union territories. On this occasion, the bench remarked that there is no malice behind the removal of Article 370. To this extent, the decision came in favor of the Centre’s decision.
