Article 370 Hearing Today: The Supreme Court will give its verdict today i.e. on Monday on the petitions challenging the abrogation of Article 370. The Supreme Court is ready to give its verdict on the constitutional validity of the removal of Article 370, which gives special status to Jammu and Kashmir. The judgment is being eagerly awaited as it will reveal whether the Presidential Order of August 5, 2019 was legally and constitutionally valid or not. The verdict will be delivered by a five-judge Constitution bench headed by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud. The hearing in this case started in August and after 16 consecutive days of marathon hearing, the Supreme Court reserved its decision on September 5.
What was said during the hearing?
During the hearing, senior lawyers Kapil Sibal, Gopal Subramaniam, Rajeev Dhawan, Zafar Shah and Dushyant Dave, among others, represented the petitioners in the Supreme Court. The hearing on the case started on August 2. The petitioners have raised questions about the validity of the Central Government’s decision to abrogate Article 370 and the validity of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act. Which divided the erstwhile state into two union territories. The petitioners alleged that the Center is doing everything for its own benefit and is not following the rules of the country.

He also argued that the provision of Article 370 could not be abrogated because the tenure of the Jammu and Kashmir Constituent Assembly had expired after drafting the Constitution of the erstwhile state in 1957. He said that the existence of the Constituent Assembly With this, Article 370 got permanent status. Attorney General R Venkataramani, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, senior lawyers Harish Salve, Rakesh Dwivedi, V Giri and others argued on behalf of the Centre. In which he said that there was no constitutional fraud in abrogating the provisions of Article 370.
Security of the valley increased due to the decision.
After the Supreme Court’s decision, Kashmir region IGP VK Birdi said on Sunday that adequate security arrangements have been made to maintain a peaceful environment. He said that every effort has been made to maintain peace in every situation in the valley.
