According to the NPA’s day and night cleaning campaign, garbage is collected door-to-door using rickshaws and tempos, but people throw garbage everywhere. Municipal officials have put up banners in many places around the city, including dozens of such vacant properties, warning people and shopkeepers not to throw garbage outdoors. Even after this, anyone caught dumping garbage was warned of a fine of Rs 5,000 and a lawsuit in court.
