Doctors give patients receipts after the examination, but the medications based on them are not available in the hospital. The hospital currently lacks cough syrup and antibiotics. Due to this, healthcare workers have to face a lot of trouble. Patients and their families must return from the medicine counter dejected. The officials of the department show no interest in providing relief to the patients. In such a situation, patients are forced to bear the financial burden and at the same time spend money on purchasing expensive medicines from medical stores outside the hospital.

Number of children in hospital increased, number doubled

The situation regarding medicines in the civil hospital is deteriorating. The pediatrician Dr. Alankrita Gera said that with the increase in colds, viruses, bacteria and various types of germs are rapidly attacking us. When children suffer from cold and cough, mucus quickly accumulates in the chest. Pneumonia quickly develops afterwards. While 150 to 200 children arrived before the cold, there are now 250 to 300. Of these, around 40 children suffer from pneumonia. In infected children, the heartbeat accelerates along with cold and cough. The child has great difficulty breathing. Children start to become weak. Parents are advised on better treatment and care for their children.

No medicines will be accepted from the Ministry of Health headquarters, from where a non-availability certificate (NAC) for medicines will be obtained. After receiving NAC, medicines can be purchased from the hospital administration.

What do the nurses who come to the hospital say?

I had come to the hospital to take my sick child to the doctor. The doctor prescribed many medicines in the OPD prescription, among them no medicine was found except paracetamol. Medication for sick children is also not available in the hospital. One has to spend money to buy expensive medicines from medical stores outside.

Departments and officials are trying to provide better treatment.
