Sonipat: 20 years in prison for raping a teenager

Sonipat: The court convicted the defendant of raping a teenager after he seduced her in the Kundli Police Station area. The Additional District and Session Court, Judge Suruchi Atreja Singh, sentenced the convict to 20 years in prison. A fine of 70,000 rupees was also imposed. The victim was ordered to pay 50,000 rupees of the fine.

On May 5, 2022, in the Kundli Police Station area, a villager complained to the police that a young man named Rinku from his village had seduced his 16-year-old sister. His sister was an 11th grade student. The police have registered a case in this regard. While investigating the matter, the Kundli Police Station found the girl. The girl had told the police that the accused had taken her to Bahadurgarh in Jhajjar. Had taken a room there and raped her. Police also added a rape section to the case. While taking action in the case, Kundli Police Station Investigator Uday Singh’s team arrested Arotip Rinku on May 20, 2022 while taking action.

The police presented the accused to the court, took him into custody for a day and had the spot marked after the questioning. The police then presented the accused to the court after gathering evidence and transferred them to pre-trial detention. After hearing the case, ASJ Suruchi Atreja Singh sentenced the accused. At sentencing on Saturday, the court sentenced the convict to 20 years’ imprisonment and a fine of Rs.50,000 under 6 POCSO Laws, five years’ imprisonment each under Sections 363 and 366, and a fine of Rs.10,000 each. All sets are executed simultaneously.
