Haryana cyber police have arrested cyber thug Aman Kumar, son of Ashok Kumar, from Ludhiana, Punjab, who cheated by showing populist dreams at festivals and distributing scratch cards on anniversaries of big companies. The accused operated a fake website raakioffr.org, which claimed that scratch vouchers worth Rs 1,999 were sent directly to customers’ accounts to mark the company’s 155th anniversary.
The main accused Aman Singh is just 19 years old and lives in the city of Ludhiana in Punjab. During interrogation, the defendant revealed that he had received a link from Facebook to a chat application channel from which he had joined a group. The accused had ordered all banking related services like fake debit/credit cards etc. from this group through online courier service itself. At the same time, the defendant also ordered a counterfeit SIM card online. The accused then created a fake website in the name of Tata Company. Photos of the owners of the Tata company were also published on this website.
I used to order a new SIM card every week
As soon as the victim clicked on the link to receive the scratch coupon and updated his banking details, the money was immediately deducted from his account. The accused told the police that the SIM provider was from Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh and the website creator was from Noida, Uttar Pradesh and both were contacted by the main accused through a chat app. The defendant used to order a new SIM card every week so that the SIM card would not have to be used again after it was used. Furthermore, the accused sent his share of the stolen money to other accused using various payment gateways. Cyber Police Haryana SP Cyber Amit Dahiya and his team arrested the accused from Ludhiana. After the main accused was arrested, he was produced before the Panchkula court where the police remanded him for five days. A case under Sections 26, 66C, 66D IT Act, 419, 120, 467, 468, 471 IPC has been registered against the main accused at Panchkula Cyber Crime Police Station.

Amit Dahiya said the approach is to use social media chat apps. At the same time, since the cyber fraud kit was fake, further technical complications arose in the case. Haryana cyber police processed all the evidence and reached the accused. He said that most of the cyber fraud kits are in the name of less educated poor people. Using information from secret sources and new techniques, evidence was collected about the accused. The defendant’s account was seized. While providing information, a cyber police spokesperson said that the month of October is celebrated as cyber awareness month by the state police to make people aware about cybercrimes.
