Rising temperatures are increasing farmers’ worries: wheat production is being affected, with temperatures reaching 33 degrees

Yamuna Nagar: Due to the sudden increase in temperature, the yield of wheat ready to ripen in the fields is gradually affected. If farmers are to be believed, there is a possibility that wheat production will decline and wheat will ripen prematurely if the temperature continues to rise in the next few days and strong winds continue to blow. Due to this, farmers are worried. At the same time, agricultural experts advised farmers not to irrigate during the day due to rising temperatures and strong winds. On the other hand, the maximum temperature of the district was recorded at 33 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature at 21 degrees Celsius on Wednesday.

Wheat is sown on 75,000 hectares

According to the department, wheat has been sown on about 75,000 hectares of land in the district this year. The early wheat crop is currently ripening in the fields, while the late wheat variety is beginning to sprout in the ears. In such a situation, if the temperature continues to rise, the grain in the wheat ears may be crushed and the yield may decrease. According to agricultural experts, wheat cannot currently tolerate high temperatures. As the heat continues to increase over the next few days, the wheat grains will shrink. If wheat grains spoil, the yield will definitely be lower.

Because of the wind, the wheat crop is not irrigated.

Farmers say that while temperatures are starting to rise, there are also gusts of wind. In such a situation, farmers are unable to provide final irrigation to their wheat crop. Because in such a situation, irrigating the crop is like ruining the wheat crop. The agricultural expert Dr. Mahesh advised farmers not to irrigate wheat crops during the day due to rising temperatures. Farmers should only water wheat plants at night when there is no wind.
