Rewari: How police avoid registering FIR in theft cases can be easily gauged from a woman’s jewelry theft. Gold jewelry was stolen from a woman’s bag on a private bus. She continued to visit two police stations and an outpost but her FIR was not registered. When he finally appealed to the SP, a case was registered at the bus stand police station.

Poonam Devi, a resident of Behror, Rajasthan, in her complaint filed with SP Deepak Saharan said that she boarded a private bus to go to Auland on October 23. Because of the crowd on the bus, two or three people standing near him held his bag aside. The bag contained gold mangalsutra, gold chain and earrings. Passengers who kept their luggage on the side got off the bus at Jadra bus stop. Due to the rush, she couldn’t check the bag at that time. When he reached Auland, he checked the bag and found that the chain was getting too tight. Her jewelry was missing from the bag.

The Dahina police station returned empty-handed

After coming to know about the theft, the woman tried to lodge an FIR by contacting the nearby Dahina police post. Instead of registering an FIR, the police showed him the way to Khol police station. When he reached Khol, he was asked to go to Rampura police station, but no case was registered even at Rampura police station. The woman claims the police did not provide her with any cooperation. SP Deepak Saharan ordered the police post at the bus stand to register a case immediately. After the case was registered, the police started investigations.
