Nuh Violence: The Punjab and Haryana High Court has suspended the Khattar government’s bulldozing operation over illegal construction in Nuh, Haryana. In addition, some relaxations have been made in Section 144 in the violence-affected area. After last Monday’s violence, the state government continuously cracked down on illegal construction by Rohingyas by using bulldozers. But now, by order of the Punjab and Haryana Supreme Court, this action has been banned. So far in Nuh, the administration has taken action in 37 locations and ensured that about 57.5 hectares of land have been cleared. Of these, 162 permanent and 591 temporary buildings were demolished. Apart from Nuh city, encroachments were also eliminated in Punhana, Nagina, Pinganwa and Ferozepur Jhirka. Yesterday, the administration also demolished a three-storey Sahara Hotel, which was thrown with stones. The owner of the hotel was also involved in the stone throwing, according to the administration.

On Monday, the government gave permission to open government offices, banks and ATMs. However, banks and ATMs are only open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The administration says that people can go to authorities, banks or ATMs on presentation of their ID card. Internet will remain closed in Mewat district until midnight on August 8th.
