Mahendragarh: The city administration team on Monday launched a campaign to remove encroachments in the shopping complex. But the team had to face resistance from the shop owners. The traders said they would pay rent for the store and the porch. Therefore, the municipality cannot have the veranda cleared. In such a situation, the community team left empty-handed without removing the encroachment and this campaign was a complete failure. Duty Judge BDPO Nisha Tanwar was present at the campaign. Furthermore, along with the team, Minister Pradeep Kumar and City SHO Moolchand Tanwar were also present.

We tell you that there is a lot of crowd in the city’s markets. Apart from the four-wheelers, even pedestrians face major problems from 10 am to 4 pm, especially around the Main Bazaar, Gandhi Bazaar, Balaji Chowk, shopping complex and vegetable market. The main reason for this is the arrival of large vehicles in the markets, but on the other hand, the administration and people also believe that some shopkeepers are encroaching on the road temporarily and permanently. Especially in the shopping complexes, 80 percent of the traders permanently invade the verandas that were built in front of the shops for the common people. Because of this, people face major problems in summer and rainy seasons. For all these reasons, the city administration had decided to take strict action against the permanent and temporary market intruders. The municipality has built the Maharaja Agrasen shopping complex in the center of the city. This shopping complex, built in five phases, has around 600 shops and showrooms. Of these, the owners of 80 percent of the shops and showrooms have permanently and temporarily encroached on the verandas in front of the shops.

There was excitement among the traders until 11 a.m.

The municipality had given the shop owners 15 days to vacate the porches of the shopping complex. In these 15 days, terminations were made twice and announced once. In view of this action by the community, there was panic among the shopkeepers till 11 am. Even before the municipality took action to remove the encroachments, all the shopkeepers had evacuated their porches. They also opened the nuts and bolts of the furniture stored on the porch, loaded the furniture into vehicles and brought it to their home.

There was also a shortage of police forces

As soon as the community team reached the shopping complex with tractors, Tempos and JCBs, all the verandahs were found empty. The team then went to councilor Sunil Tayal’s shop. There the team had to deal with resistance from traders. The traders said they would pay rent for the store and the porch. Therefore, the municipality cannot have the veranda cleared. There was a long-standing dispute between municipal secretary Pradeep Kumar and the traders. Due to the large number of traders and reduced police force, the NPA team returned to its office.

The campaign is being carried out again: Pradeep Kumar

Municipal secretary Pradeep Kumar said encroachment on the shopping complex will be removed by fixing a different date. Shopkeepers have no right to occupy the veranda. The action could not be carried out on Monday due to fewer police forces. Further action will be taken by announcing a new date shortly.
